In the Name of God, the Gracious and Merciful
Press Release from the City of Bani Walid
“Should the common folk, one day, desire to live destiny shall be forced to respond.”
Glory and immortality be to the Martyrs slain in the Glorious Revolution of February the
Seventeenth.
In light of the dangerous conditions prevailing in our beloved country since the the
launch of the Glorious Revolution of February the Seventeenth and the violence and
oppression with which it was met by Gaddafi and his sons, as well as his complete
disregard for humanitarian and patriotic values and his deliberate violation of human
dignity in Libya, his indifference to the plight of the Libyan people in conjunction with his
mockery of those who gave their lives which, indeed, extends beyond his description of
them and touches upon members of other factions among the Libyan people as well,
with such terms of abuse as would be reprehensible upon the lips of the average
person, being ever so much more egregious issuing from the mouth of and at the hands
of the person whose responsibilities demand that he protect the best interests of his
people. Indeed, Gaddafi has proven, yet again, for the thousandth time, that he is not to
be trusted and that he regards Libya and its people as nothing more than a private
estate to be exploited by himself and his sons, throwing to the wind every last vestige of
the values and customs which a head of state ought to take as vestments. In point of
fact, the people of Bani Walid withdrew their support for Gaddafi and his regime in the
year 1993, and his regime has been at an end since the day that his henchmen opened
fire upon the demonstrators at Benghazi. He has lost all legitimacy and, no longer
representing anybody, is summoned to face justice.
Events have taken place in such rapid succession and the various initiatives and
interventions which have taken place have become intertwined amongst one another
with such complexity that the capacity of the Libyan people to even follow what is
occurring, never-mind anticipate the eventual outcomes thereof, has been out-stripped.
If we do not make a concentrated effort to exercise moral responsibility towards our
nation there is no telling what sorts of disasters might transpire. The trend of regional
and tribal strife could, potentially, deepen -along with other trials and tribulations- to the
point where they would be very difficult to rectify for, perhaps, decades. For these
reasons we, the sons of Libya, the Bani Walid –professionals, business-men, and
students residing both in distant lands as well as within beloved Libya- announce the
